Below the joomla component will be documented in detail.

Configuration

In the configuration you have 2 choices to make, which are the following:

Homepage(s):
This textarea contains the homepage(s) you have assigned google API key(s) for.
An example could be http://joomla.jansangill.dk.
If you need more than one homepage assigned to the system, then you need to split it up like this:
http://joomla.jansangill.dk,
http://testserver.jansangill.dk
Notice the comma after the first homepage.
IMPORTANT: Always enter the homepage with http://
IMPORTANT: This field is MANDATORY

Google API(s):
This textarea contains the Google API(s) you have registrered for on their site.
You will need to have a google account to get the API key(s). The registration only takes seconds.
An example of a Google API key could be: ABQIAAAA6Yy1Iv1fbz942ACq2NyCThS_R3J2CR7aBJhnSVeXeJaYWxqs-RQe94FvmN_tdyA3SxFJU_X-wHM_7Q
If you need more than one Google key, then do as stated above in the Homepage(s).

Category Manager

A list of all the categories. You have the option to publish, unpublish and delete the categories here.
The list is showing the name of the category, setCenter, width, height and published state of the category.

Category - General:

In the category - general tab you need to consider 8 options, which are:

Name:
The name of the category. Make it as meaningfull as possible.
IMPORTANT: This field is MANDATORY

setCenter:
The setCenter means "Where the map will center around on load". The setCenter is put together by lattitude and longitude.
An example could be 55.567,7.99
Notice that between the lattitude and longitude we have a comma to seperate them.
If you have no clue how to find the coordinates, then go to "manage destinations" and use the "google by map" feature.
IMPORTANT: This field is MANDATORY

Width:
The width of the googlemap. This is set by using px or %. Look at the illustration to see how.
If this is not set, then the map will not work properly.
IMPORTANT: This field is MANDATORY

Height:
The height of the googlemap. This is set by using px or %. Look at the illustration to see how.
If this is not set, then the map will not work properly.
IMPORTANT: This field is MANDATORY

Zoomlevel:
The zoomlevel is set by intervals from 1-15. The higer the zoom, the closer to the ground you come.

Pre description:
The description gives you an opportunity to assign a text above your googlemap. Feel free to use pictures, links or whatever you like here. No restrictions are made.

After description:
The description gives you an opportunity to assign a text beneath your googlemap. Feel free to use pictures, links or whatever you like here. No restrictions are made.

Published:
Set the published state of the category. If set to no, and you try to assign it frontend, then the map will not show.

Category: Parameters

In the category - parameterstab you need to consider 18 options, which are:

Marker picture:
This setting decides whether or not the destination picture should be displayed in the balloon frontend.

Marker Address:
This setting decides whether or not the destination addressshould be displayed in the balloon frontend.

Marker Text:
This setting decides whether or not the destination textshould be displayed in the balloon frontend.

Marker popup onload:
This settings decides if the first maker should popup with the balloon automatically on page load.

Routeplanning:
If this is set to yes, the user will be able to find directions via the routeplanning.

Routeplanning Print:
If yes, then the user will have the possibility to print out the driving directions, if routeplanning is enabled.

Map Controls:
You can choose between small and large map controls in the frontend. Large controls are suited for big maps, whereas small maps would look better with small controls.

Map Scale Control:
Add a scale in the bottom left corner. Can come in handy if you want to see how long there is from a to b on the map.

Map Scroll Zoom:
Enable the user to zoom with scroll on the mouse.

Enable Continuous Zoom:
Smoothly zooms in on a map rather than repainting it.

Streetview:
Enabled the user will be able to see the streets in real pictures and see how it looks exactly.
The streetview is contrelled by a draggable marker.
IMPORTANT: STreetview can only be found in the blue areas of the map. And remeber to zoom in when using it!

Map Type Control:
You can pick from normal, satelite or hybrid. This decides how the map will start.

Adsense:
If enabled, then the user can search via a search bar in the bottom left for companies etc.
This should only be enabled if you have an adsense account with google, and know how to properly use it.

Adsafe:
The level of entegrity in the ads. If set to high, then alcohol ads will not appear. If set to off, everything will appear. Moreover you can choose between medium and low.

Adsense Client:
The client id you have received by google when applying for adsense search.

Adsense Channel:
The adsense channel you have set up with adsense search.

Destinations list

This is a list of destinations. Basically it does the same as the category list, however with some other information displayed.
 

Destination

In the destination you need to consider 8 options, which are:

Name:
The name of the destination. Pick a proper name and meaningfull name.

Lattitude & longitude:
This defines where the marker will be set on the map. These fields are REQUIRED.
They can be entered manually or you can use the "google by address function" or the "google by map" function to transfer the coordinates.

Text:
A small text in the marker can be defined here. If you want special HTMLhandling, you will need to know some HTML yourself.
For instance, if you want something to be bold, then do this: <strong>This is bold</strong>

Picture:
Enables you to upload a picture in jpg, gif and png format. When uploaded, you can delete the picture as shown in the above illustration.

Category:
This is REQUIRED to be filled out. here you select which category you want the destination to be affiliated with.

Icon:
Here you decide which marker you want to be displayed with the destination.
You can create markers yourself by adding them to here: components/com_google/icons

Route assigned:
Here you choose if you want this destination to be a part of the dropdown in the routeplanning frontend.

Published:
Set the published state of the destination. If set to no, it will not appaer on the map.
